Have you ever felt like your voice was not being heard?
Have you ever been in a meeting where you had trouble understanding what was going on?
Are you interested in being on a board of directors or an advisory council?
Do you want people to hear you?
Do you want to advocate for people with disabilities?
Would you like to learn important skills for being on boards and councils?
Maybe boards and councils want YOU!
They want you to contribute to the way they make decisions.
We are offering a training program on board and council membership.
Be the best board member you can be!
I am up bright and early this morning with the intent to fill out the application for the training through the State of GA to help the work of boards and directors and advisory councils.
I am a graduate of New Rock through View Point Health in Covington, GA. I have also taken the majority of the training classes through the GPSI GA Peer Support Institute through the GA Mental Health Consumer Network. I have attended classes and conference at St. Simons Island through the GA Mental Health Consumer Network. I am also a graduate of The Respect Institute per Mr. Joel Slack and the State of Georgia. I have taken and taught just as many classes on self – help recovery at New Rock and have been in process of obtaining my CPS Certified Peer Specialist Certification while currently working in the health field as a PSA Personal Support Assistant through the GA Department of Human Resources in the State of GA.
I am a Business/Legal Office Administration graduate and Paralegal Certification graduate through Dekalb Technical College and performed my internship at The Newton County Public Defender’s Office with Esquire Mr. John Strauss Sr., and Ms. Elaine.
Fortunately for me I am able to work in the health field as a PSA while obtaining my CPS only to enhance my knowledge and skills of the health world and to obtain and hold the certification through The GA Mental Health Consumer Network.
I will work on the application as I blog and let you guy’s in on what all is required on the application.
7. Why are you interested in My Voice. My Participation. My Board.?
12. Please list the clubs, groups, and associations, as well as any offices held. Be sure to tell us the organizations’ names:
The classes and training offered were just posted at
on December 15th but it may possibly be too late to apply. The application stated that they would make their decisions by the 15th so I may have possibly missed the deadline by a couple of days. I will let you guy’s know and apply for the next training if so.
There are three training modules held in January, February and March in Savannah.
I do not know for 100% certain I could make that commitment with my work schedule. I may have a conflict in scheduling and transportation issues to arise. I will have to work it one day at a time to see.
Thank you the reader for your continued walk with me through recovery. You may catch up on the last three years of my life here at The Covington News or at WordPress.
Thank you greatly for being a part of my walk of recovery.
