Since Thanksgiving Day 2014 upon going ice skating at the Olde Town Conyers Pavilion I have been spending a great amount of time in Olde Town. Which is very surprising to me say the least. With as many memories that it brings up I have handled it just fine. Evidently time has healed the wounds and left behind the good lasting memories I have shared with my children in Olde Town Conyers. I have been living in Conyers for several years now but am signing the final paperwork to my new apartment on February 4th 2015 where I will be moving back to Covington just a short walk from the historic Square in Downtown Covington, Georgia where I grew up at. My hometown and where I spend a great deal greater of my time around the historic Square.
I am presently working as a PSA Personal Support Assistant to the physically and mentally challenged along with the elderly through the GA Department of Human Resources. I have felt sick the last few days and saw the doctor this week who ran some labwork and gave me a prescription for nausea and vomiting. I am going to check with the office this morning and see if my labwork has came back just yet. I may or may not be back at work today. Once I speak with the doctors office I will know more but my plan is to get back to work today as I miss my client and his wonderful smile that cheers me so.
I was out and about in Covington yesterday and there is an outlet store called REACH Outlet where they sale clothes at $1.99 each. If you buy 10 pieces you get them at $1.49 each. I came upon a good many scrubs and bought them yesterday. All gently used in very good condition and some of the scrub tops were brand new. I will be visiting with REACH Outlet off Highway 278 often.
So I decided since I had been sick I would get me a few new scrub outfits to cheer me up and hopefully help me feel better. I will be moving back to Covington in February but as of now I am still living in Conyers and wanted to document this very moment. In this very moment I have reached success and have been working for some time now in the health field and feel that I have filled the big shoes of The Rockdale County Judicial Circuit and proven them wrong in a very well mannered and respectful way. My goal is also to obtain my CPS Certified Peer Specialist Certification through the State of Georgia that I am working toward to help enhance my skills and abilities in the health world. I have been in study for my CPS Certification for some time now and hope to take the essay test again in March.
I want this state of GA to know that there have been 1000+ Georgia Certified Peer Specialists Since October 2001.
And the requirements include:
> Candidates must have diagnosis of mental illness or a dual diagnosis of mental illness and addictive disease and must desire to identify themselves as a person with mental illness current or former consumer of mental health services.
> Applicants must hold a high school diploma or GED and may be requested to provide a copy of this document.
> Must demonstrate strong reading comprehension and written communication skills as indicated on their responses on the pre – test which is part of the application.
> Must have demonstrated experience with leadership, advocacy or governance.
> Must be well grounded in recovery
These facts are taken directly from the Certified Peer Specialist brochure.
The motto of the CPS being “Each One Reach One.”
The next testing for CPS Certified Peer Specialist will be in March of 2015. That is when I will be applying per the essay exam for the State of GA. Currently working under The GA Department of Human Resources in the health field with the physically and mentally challenged along with the elderly.
Documenting my life at my Covington News blog over the last nearly 4 years now has been so very rewarding and I will be able to print some amazing photographs to sit and hang in my new apartment including my time as a PSA Personal Support Assistant. Which I plan to continue with for a long time to come. Working towards continuing to work as a PSA with my CPS Certification along with my Business/Legal Office Degree and Paralegal Certification from Dekalb Tech in 2002, Covington Campus.
Saying my good byes to Olde Town Conyers over the last week ready and looking forward to next week when I sign my final paperwork on my new apartment where I plan to host a home warming party just as soon as I get settled in. Thank you the reader for continuing to follow in my life. I hope that I have filled big shoes and big expectations of and for my life from many great mentors and friends. Feeling as though I have filled those big shoes regardless of what tomorrow brings I have made it and arrived. Arrived with accomplishments and experience no one can ever take from me. Arriving with achieved great expectations to living the life that God intended and has brought me to over the last several years a little more with each passing day with many of my unanswered prayers answered. I truly owe the Holy Spirit a great debt of gratitude along with the mentors in my life as I feel I would have never made it thus far without the power of prayer in my life.
